- Pereira already has a win over Prochazka under his belt with UFC gold on the line.
- The Brazilian has won two straight title fights by knockout and should get a third win in a row here.
Las Vegas will be the site of UFC 303, which is headlined by a rematch for the UFC light heavyweight title. Alex Pereira puts his belt on the line against Jiri Prochazka, who Pereira took the title from back in November of 2023. Here, we give you our UFC best bets for Alex Pereira vs Jiri Prochazka in the light heavyweight main event of UFC 303 from T-Mobile Arena.
Alex Pereira
Going into UFC 303, Alex Pereira holds a professional record of 10-2. He has won three fights in a row, including two straight fights with the light heavyweight title on the line. One of those fights came against Jiri Prochazka, who the Brazilian will look to defeat for a second time in a row in order to keep his title and maintain his grip on this division.
While Pereira did grab a knockout win in his first fight against Prochazka, the question going into Alex Pereira vs Jiri Prochazka II will be whether or not Pereira can avoid being taken down by the Czech fighter. Pereira was taken down once in that first matchup between these two men, though it did not cost him the fight. Being vulnerable to Prochazka’s takedowns in this fight could open the door for Pereira to relinquishing his belt back to the man he took it from in the first place.
Jiri Prochazka
Going into UFC 303, Jiri Prochazka has a professional record of 30-4. One of those four losses came against the man he is fighting on Saturday night. Since then, Prochazka did get back into the win column, knocking out Aleksandar Rakic to earn this rematch. But the question is whether or not Prochazka can get a win in the rematch to get back on top of the light heavyweight mountain in UFC.
Prochazka is so dangerous both at getting fights to the ground and winning them from the feet. But one would think that his best bet is getting this fight to the ground to neutralize the striking of Pereira. That is easier said than done, of course, but Prochazka was very aggressive in trying to get the fight to the ground in the first matchup between these two. He tried three takedowns in two rounds in that fight and we should see a similar strategy here, whether it works or not.
