Head to Head
Teams Last 10
This game will be played at Minute Maid Park at 3:37 PM ET on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
Why Bet The Under:
✅ For starters, Justin Verlander is set to take the mound for the Astros, which has not meant runs for opposing teams. Verlander has been brilliant this year, posting a league-best 1.75 ERA. He will continue to roll at home, and keep this a low-scoring game into the late innings, which will help the under come in on Tuesday afternoon.

✅ The Mariners have not scored in big numbers against the Astros for the most part this season. They have gone seven straight games scoring five runs or less against the AL West champions. That history, combined with the presence of Verlander, will not mean a ton of scoring from the visitors in Game 1 of this series.
✅ It is also worth pointing out that the Mariners had been held completely in check offensively against the Blue Jays before their comeback in Game 2. They had scored a combined five runs before the Blue Jays’ pitching staff melted down. The Astros will afford them no such opportunities, leading to this game going under.
Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners swept the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Wild Card round. They defeated their hosts 4-0 in Game 1, and came back from an 8-1 deficit to win Game 2 and close out the series. Here, the Mariners face an even tougher opponent in the Division Series, as they face a Houston Astros team they went 7-12 against in the regular season.
While there has been nothing confirmed just yet, Logan Gilbert is the name that has been thrown around as the potential starter for the Mariners in this contest. Gilbert went 13-6 on the season with a 3.20 ERA. If the Mariners are going to win Game 1 with Gilbert on the mound, they are going to need him to throw one of his best games against the likely Cy Young winner for the Astros.
Houston Astros
The Houston Astros start their postseason on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners after getting a bye into the ALDS. Houston finished the regular season with the best record in the American League, winning 106 games. Here, they send the best pitcher in the American League this season to the mound in an effort to set the tone for this series.
Justin Verlander went 18-4 this season, and has won 10 of his last 11 decisions dating back to June. This season, Verlander has gone 4-1 against the Mariners already, and will look to slow Seattle down once again to get Houston’s postseason off to a flying start.
