Phillies vs Brewers Betting Pick
This game will be played at American Family Field at 8:10 PM ET on Thursday, June 9, 2022.
Why Bet The Brewers:
✅ Corbin Burnes will get the ball for the Brewers and look to bounce back from last week’s rough outing against San Diego. The reigning NL Cy Young Award champ yielded five earned runs on eight hits to the Padres, but he still owns a sharp 2.50 ERA, 3.14 FIP, and 0.92 WHIP in 11 starts (68.1 IP) this season. Burnes hasn’t allowed more than one earned run in four of his past six appearances.
✅ The current Phillies have four hits and a poor .258 slugging percentage in 18 at-bats against Corbin Burnes. They are more dangerous when batting against the southpaws, and the Phillies proved it in Tuesday’s opener, handing Josh Hader his first blown save of the season. Against the right-handed pitchers, the Phillies are slashing .244/.309/.401 in 2022.

✅ On the other side, the Brewers love to hit the righties. They own a miserable .211/.291/.345 triple-slash against the left-handed pitchers and a .238/.314/.418 slash line against the right-handed pitchers in 2022. The Brewers’ left-handed batters sport a 120 OPS+ against the righties, so Zach Eflin could easily struggle in this matchup.
Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies will give Zach Eflin a nod in this one, and the 28-year-old righty is coming off a terrific performance in a 10-0 dismantling of the Los Angeles Angels. He threw eight scoreless innings while yielding just five hits and a walk.
However, it’s hard to trust Eflin, who surrendered a whopping seven earned runs at the Mets on May 28. He holds a 2-4 record, 3.88 ERA, and 1.14 WHIP in nine starts this season. The 26-29 Phillies entered the middle game of this series riding a five-game winning streak.
Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers extended their losing streak to four games with that tough 3-2 defeat to the Phillies. They fell to 33-24 on the season, still topping the NL Central, half a game above St. Louis.
Milwaukee desperately needs more from its offense. In the last couple of weeks, the Brewers have slashed .212/.287/.359, posting the sixth-lowest OPS in the majors. They’ve smacked 15 dingers over the previous 14 outings.
