Phillies vs Marlins Betting Pick
This game will be played at loanDepot Park at 1:40 PM ET on Sunday, July 17, 2022.
Why Bet The Phillies:
✅ Trevor Rodgers (4-8; 5.42 ERA) will take the hill for the Marlins and face the Phillies for the third time this season. In his previous two dates with Philadelphia, the 24-year-old left-hander was shellacked for 11 earned runs on nine hits and ten walks across just 5.1 innings of work. Rodgers is 1-3 with a miserable 7.26 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in seven career starts against the Phillies.
✅ The current Phillies lineup has 17 hits in 58 at-bats against Trevor Rodgers. Rhys Hoskins is 7-for-14 with three home runs, while Nick Castellanos is 2-for-3 with a walk in four plate appearances versus the Marlins’ lefty. The Phillies are very dangerous when hitting the lefties, posting a .250/.332/.427 slash line and 111 OPS+ against the left-handed pitchers in 2022.

✅ The Marlins’ offense has been awful as of late. Miami has scored just 42 runs in its previous 14 games overall while slashing a terrible .203/.270/.312 with eight home runs and 22 doubles across 462 at-bats.
Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies improved to 47-43 on the season following Friday’s victory over the Marlins. They also snapped a four-game skid, recording their eighth win in the previous 14 outings at any location. Philadelphia was sitting at the third spot in the NL East, nine games behind the New York Mets and seven behind the Atlanta Braves.
Aaron Nola (5-7; 3.35 ERA) will get the nod Sunday and take on the Marlins for the second time this term. The 29-year-old righty tossed seven innings of a two-run ball in a no-decision against Miami on June 13. Nola hasn’t been sharp over his previous three starts, posting a 4.98 ERA through 21.2 innings pitched.
Miami Marlins
The Marlins fell to 43-46 following Friday’s narrow loss to the Phillies. They were four games behind the bottom wild card in the National League. Miami has gone 4-6 in its last ten contests overall.
Trevor Rodgers has been charged for a loss in his previous two starts against the Angels and Pirates. He’s yielded six runs (five earned) on ten hits across ten frames of work. Rodgers has allowed less than three runs only once in his last six appearances.
