New York Yankees at New York Mets – Game 2 MLB Odds, Preview & Prediction – 08/30/20

A three-day, five game interleague battle concludes on Sunday, August 30, 2020, when the New York Yankees (17-13) visit the New York Mets (15-17) in the second game of a double header. Entering Sunday, the Yankees sit in second place in the AL East but are 4.5 games back of the first place Tampa Bay Rays. The Mets are in fourth place in the NL East but are just three games back of the first place Atalanta Braves. This game will air live on ESPN2 at 4:05 p.m. EST.

This series opened with a double header on Friday that saw the Mets come away with 6-4 and 4-3 wins. In game one, the Mets were trailing 4-0 but fought back with a five-run top of the sixth inning. Game two also saw a Mets comeback as Amed Rosario hit a walkoff two-run home run. The Yankees ended their seven-game losing streak with a walkoff 2-1 win on Saturday.

Below is my pick for the Major League Baseball showdown between the New York Mets and New York Yankees. All odds are from MGM Sportsbook.

New York Yankees (+122) at New York Mets (-135)

Pitching Matchup: Deivi Garcia (first appearance of 2020) vs Seth Lugo (1-2, 2.03 ERA, 0.75 WHIP)

Sunday will be Deivi Garcia’s first career appearance in the majors.

Seth Lugo is set to make his 11th appearance and second start of 2020. Lugo has done well all season as the righty has given up just three earned runs all season and just one earned run in August – a span of six appearances, one start, and 8.1 innings pitched. We will see if Lugo can put together a deep start on Sunday.

Batting Stats:

It has been the Like Voit show in New York as the first baseman leads the Yankees with a .308 batting average, .376 on base percentage, .725 slugging, and a 1.102 OPS. Voit also leads the team with 12 home runs and 22 RBI’s.

Right fielder Michael Conforto leads the Mets with a .319 batting average, .430 on base percentage, .504 slugging, and .934 OPS. Left fielder Dominic Smith leads the team with seven home runs and 24 RBI’s.

Game Prediction: Give me the New York Mets in this one.
