The Yankees travel to the south side of Chicago to start a series with the White Sox. They will have Andrew Heaney (7-8, 5.45) on take the mound. They will be greeted by the White Sox and Lance Lynn (10-3, 2.04). Per DraftKings, the White Sox are a -170 favorite.
Itโs no secret Lance Lynn has been among the best pitchers in baseball. His 2.04 ERA leads the entire league, and he has been on a phenomenal stretch of late. In his last seven starts, he has allowed more than one earned run just one time. That โhiccupโ was a start in which he allowed three earned over five innings pitched. He has been the most reliable pitcher in the league.
Andrew Heaney will have the unenviable task of trying to keep the White Sox bats in check and trying to keep pace with Lynn. He will make his third start for the Yankees, and the results with his new club have been similar to that of before the July 30th trade. His two appearances have seen him allow eight earned runs over 10 innings pitched, and a propensity for big mistakes. He has given up five home runs in those 10 innings. We would have to go back to early June to find an appearance in which Heaney did not five up multiple earned runs. Whatโs more, heโs allowed three or more earned runs in eight of his last nine appearances.
The run support for Lynn should be there, as the White Sox are 20-11 against left handed pitching this season, and they face a lefty that consistently gives up runs. This should hold particularly true in a home game for the White Sox, as they are an American League best 38-20 at home.
The -170 price on Lynn is light, particularly against a pitcher like Heaney and in a home spot. Take the White Sox tonight.
