Angels vs Braves Betting Pick
This game will be played at Truist Park at 1:35 PM ET on Sunday, July 24, 2022.
Why Bet The Braves:
✅ Reid Detmers (2-3; 4.11 ERA) will get the starting call for the Angels, and the 23-year-old lefty hasn’t emerged victorious since May 10 when he tossed a no-hitter in a 12-0 thrashing of the Tampa Bay Rays. Since then, Detmers has registered a 4.38 ERA and a troublesome 5.42 FIP. Over his previous four outings, Reid has allowed 11 earned runs on 16 hits and nine walks across 20.2 innings of work.
✅ The Braves are deadly against the left-handed pitchers, posting a 120 OPS+ in 2022. They also have a 129 OPS+ versus the left-handed starting pitchers. The Braves are striking out a lot, too, but Reid Detmers ranks in the 34th percentile in strikeout percentage and the 20th percentile in whiff percentage.

✅ The Angels’ bullpen is 0-4 with zero saves in July. It has recorded an underwhelming 4.42 ERA, 4.53 FIP, and 4.2 BB/9 across 53 frames of work so far this month.
Los Angeles Angels
The Angels fell to 39-54 following Friday’s heavy loss at Truist Park. Shohei Ohtani was shelled for six earned runs over 6.1 innings, and the Halos surrendered a whopping seven runs in the bottom of the seventh.
It was the Angels’ 13th defeat in their last 15 games overall. They were 11.5 games behind the bottom wild card in the American League. The Halos are slumping at the plate, hitting an ugly .182/.262/.263 across 483 at-bats in July. Mike Trout is on the IL with a back injury and should miss Sunday’s battle in Atlanta.
Atlanta Braves
The Braves improved to 57-38 following Friday’s dismantling of the hapless Angels. It was their 11th victory in 15 games, as the reigning champs cut the deficit between them and the NL East-leading New York Mets to 1.5 games.
Ian Anderson will toe the rubber Sunday, carrying a troublesome 4.79 ERA and 1.51 WHIP across 92 innings of work (18 starts) this season. However, the 24-year-old righty has done an excellent job in his previous three starts (2-0 record), yielding four runs on 15 hits through 15.2 frames of work. Anderson ranks in the 60th percentile in expected slugging percentage and the 81st percentile in barrel percentage.
