Total O/U: 9

The Houston Astros (2-4) and the Texas Rangers (3-2) will play the deciding game of a three-game series today. Astros pitcher Gerrit Cole (0-1) goes up against the Rangers and Mike Minor (0-1).

In his last start, Cole pitched six innings and gave up four runs, but only one was earned. He also struck out 10 batters and walked none, while only giving up five hits.

Minor got rocked in his first start of the season in a 12-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs. Minor only lasted 4 ⅔ while giving up six runs and walking two.

It has been a low scoring series so far, only totaling 13 runs. The Astros have performed well below expectations so far this season, only scoring 15 runs in six games (26th in the league). However, the team has struck out the fourth least of any team in baseball, so it is only a matter of time before contact starts turning into hits, which will lead to more runs.

Look for Cole to have another 10+ strikeout game, only this time, the Astros defense won’t commit any errors which lead to unearned runs with Cole on the mound. The Astros will score enough runs to bounce Minor from the game by the end of the fifth inning and both teams will score some runs late to push this game over, but the Astros hang on for a win that should get the team back on track.

Baseball Pick: ML Winner – Astros, RL Winner – Astros, O/U – Over

The total has gone OVER in 4 of the Rangers 5 games.

The Astros have yet to be an underdog this season, in terms of odds, and the Rangers have yet to be a favorite.

Minor has only pitched more than 6 ⅓ innings once in his last 14 games and has only thrown more than 91 pitches once in his last 10 starts.

Cole has struck out 7+ batters in 14 of his last 16 starts.
