While the stars of the PGA Tour are in Florida for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, those who were not fortunate enough to be among the 120 invited will head even more south to Rio Grande Puerto Rico and the Grand Reserve Country Club for the 15th edition of the Puerto Rico Open.
While it may not have the names and star power like the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Puerto Rico Open is a big deal for the players in it, because it’s a chance to earn both a big check and big points in the FedEx Cup rankings, while avoiding basically the entire Top 120 player in the world.
There’ still a few names in the field, so here’s a look at this week’s golf betting picks for the Puerto Rico Open.

Puerto Rico Open Course Breakdown
Grand Reserve Golf Club is one that requires players to be long, with a pair of Par 5s on the back nine that are each over 600 yards, and the course checking in at just over 7,500 yards. Players are helped out by the course not having a ton of rough, and fast, firm fairways that tend to rocket the ball forward.
Another break for the players this week is the course has enormous greens that aren’t going to roll super fast.
The main defense of the course is the wind, with it being on the ocean. If the wind picks up, it could be tough scoring, but still yield birdies. Last year’s winner shot -20.
The course plays as a Par 72.
Other Golfers Who Can Win the Puerto Rico Open
Erik van Rooyen: Here is the highest ranked player in the field at No. 120. He’s been up and down this year, playing well at The American Express where he finished in a tie for sixth, but is coming off a badly missed cut in last week’s Honda Classic.
Dylan Wu: Maybe the hottest player in the field, over his last three tournaments he’s second on the PGA Tour in total strokes gain. He putted very well last week at the Honda Classic on his way to a Top-10 finish.
Brice Garnett: Garnett has played in this event each of the last three years, and played well, finishing 20th, fifth, and seventh in the event. Made the cut last week at the Honda Classic, but otherwise hasn’t played well to start 2023. The familiar surroundings should get him going.
