After back-to-back weeks with loaded fields thanks to being Designated Events, the PGA Tour heads east and begins its annual month-plus time in Florida with the Honda Classic, and a field that isn’t nearly as star-studded as the past two weeks.
That said, there’s still eight of the world’s Top-50 players in the field, including three major champions, and at a course that doesn’t give up a ton of birdies, should see players who have experience at this event have the edge.
That being said, this is also a tournament where longshots have won five of the last 10 trips to PGA National, and seems to favor players who have a strong recent form. Here’s our golf betting picks for this week’s Honda Classic.
Honda Classic Betting Pick
ℹ️ The Pick: | Jhonattan Vegas (+3500) |
? Recommended Sportsbook Promo: | First Bet On Caesars up to $1,250 |
⛳ Promo Code: | ATSBONUSFULL |
Why Bet On Jhonattan Vegas:
✅ Vegas checks all the boxes you could want for a player in the field: He’s played well in recent weeks with a pair of Top-25s in deep fields, and he’s played well at this event in the past, with three finishes inside the Top-20, including a fourth back in 2017.
✅ He’s one of the best ball-strikers on Tour at the moment, with his last 24 rounds being compared to this week’s field, he’s the third-best off the tee, fourth best on approach shots, and second best in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green
✅ Vegas has always been a good driver of the ball, but of last has been particularly strong with an iron in hand from inside 150 yards, posting the second-best distance to the hole in that range.

Honda Classic Course Breakdown
The Champions Course at PGA National has been the host of the Honda Classic since 2007, and features a lot of excitement, and water, at the end of the round on the famed closing stretch called The Bear Trap.
Only five times in the past 16 events has the winner reached double-digit under par, so this makes for a big challenge for players this week. The course also typically has strong winds that make scoring even tougher, and bring the water into play.
The course isn’t long by PGA Tour standards, just over 7,000 yards, but with water lurking on many of the holes, accuracy is more of the premium tool needed this week.
The course plays as a Par 72.
Other Golfers Who Can Win The Honda Classic
Sungjae Im: The betting favorite and the highest ranked player in the field, sometimes it’s easiest not to think too hard about things, and pick a strong player who is going up against a weak field by PGA Tour standards.
Denny McCarthy: Played well last week against a loaded field, quietly finishing in a tie for 14th. McCarthy lives nearby, and has played well in this event in recent years, including a tie for third back in the 2021 edition.
Sepp Straka: Feels a bit under appreciated despite being the winner here last year where he led the field in fairways, greens in regular, and was among the Top-5 in the field in putting. Add it all up, and he’s a very good shot at repeating.
