Washington State Cougars
The Washington State Cougars have won two straight games, but they have come against less than stellar competition. They have beaten Arizona State and Stanford to get to the six-win mark to become bowl eligible. Now they will aim for a seventh win, as they can spend the final two weeks of the season trying to qualify for better bowl games.
For Washington State, there is a golden opportunity in this game to take advantage of a weak Arizona defense. But the Cougars offense may not be built to put up big numbers, as they are averaging under 400 yards per game on offense.
Arizona Wildcats
Arizona knew it needed to win its final three games of the season to get to 6-6 and become bowl eligible after dropping to 3-6. They won the first game they needed to win last week, upsetting UCLA on the road to pick up their fourth win of the year. Now, the Wildcats have to win two more games to go bowling, starting with Saturday against Washington State.
Jayden de Laura will continue to be the key to the success of the Wildcats, after he completed 22 of his 28 passes for 315 yards last week. A similar performance against the Bruins and de Laura could lead his team to within one game of becoming bowl eligible.
