Vandy vs Hawai’i Betting Preview
An interesting non-conference game is set for Week Zero when the Vanderbilt Commodores visit the Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors. Hawai’i was picked to finish last in the Mountain West Conference West Division and Vandy was picked last in the SEC East preseason poll. This game will air live on CBS Sports Network.
Last season, Vanderbilt had another poor year as they finished 2-10 overall and 0-8 in SEC play. The Commodores had a shocking win at Colorado State and then beat one win UConn for their second, and final victory of the season. Vandy lost their final seven games.
Hawai’i was picked fifth in preseason Mountain West Conference rankings and ended up finishing fourth after going 6-7 overall and 3-5 in conference play. The Rainbow Warriors won their final game of the regular season, against Colorado State, to become bowl eligible, but had to withdraw from the Hawai’i Bowl for COVID reasons.

Vandy vs Hawai’i Betting Pick
The Vandy offense is putrid, but they will once again be led at QB by Mike Wright. The dual-threat QB will have Will Shepard on the outside and two RBs, in Re’Mahn Davis and Rocko Griffin, to lead the attack. The big guy’s upfront return three starters from last season and welcome in a transfer from North Texas. Defensively, the ‘Dores will be led by Anfernee Orji, Kane Patterson, and Ethan Barr. Nate Clifton and Malik Langham are the big guys up front.
Hawai’i is going to have new QB this season and it will be a battle between Brayden Schager, Cammon Cooper and Joey Yellen. WRs Zion Bowens and Chris Jackson, and RB Dedrick Pason will be the main skill guys. Defensively, the line has some big boys with Blessman Ta’ala and John Tuitipou, but there is a lot of work to do to improve from last season’s poor defensive effort.
