The American Athletic Conference is in primetime Friday night as the 7-2 Central Florida Golden Knights travel to Oklahoma to take on the 2-7 Tulsa Golden Hurricanes. UCF are still fighting to win the American โ East division while Tulsa are just looking to win one conference game this season.
Central Florida currently sit in second place of the American โ East, at 4-1, but trail Cincinnati who are still undefeated in conference play and hold the head-to-head over UCF. The Golden Knights are already bowl eligible this season as UCF will go bowling for the fourth consecutive season. Tulsa are still searching for their first conference win of the season and cannot become bowl eligible this season as they most wins they can get is five. Tulsa will not go bowling for the third straight season.
Below is my pick for Central Florida at Tulsa. All lines are from the FanDuel Sportsbook.
Central Florida (-17) at Tulsa: O/U 70 points (-110/-110)
Central Florida extended their winning streak to three games with a 44-29 win over Houston last week. The Golden Knights have now scored 41+ points in three straight games, and four of their last five, in the win and the offense is rolling like it never has before. UCF is averaging 43.0 points per game this season and have put up 40 points in all but two games this season โ they lost both of those games. UCF is 4-5 ATS and the over has hit in five of their nine games in 2019.
Tulsaโs nightmare season continued last week with a 38-26 loss at Tulane. The loss pushed the Golden Hurricaneโs losing streak to five straight games and they have now lost six of their last seven. The Tulsa defense is a problem as they have given up 38+ points in five of their last seven games and in four of their five games during this losing streak. Tulsa are 5-4 against the spread and the under has hit in five of their last nine games in 2019.
Series History: Tulsa took a 7-3 series lead after winning the most two recent meetings between these schools.
Game Prediction: The Tulsa defense, and team in general, is in shambles and that is not a good sign with this red hot Central Florida offense coming to town. I am back UCF -17 Friday night.
