Saturday’s Big 12 showdown between the Houston Cougars and TCU Horned Frogs is a meaningful game in the Big 12 championship race. Houston enters with a strong 8–2 record as it hosts TCU, who still has plenty to play for at 6–4. Here, I take a closer look at this matchup in the Big 12 and make my TCU vs Houston prediction for Saturday afternoon.

Key Storylines
There’s plenty on the line for both teams. Houston is ranked in the top 25 and is trying to lock in a strong finish to what has been one of its best Big 12 seasons. The Cougars are just one game back of BYU and Texas Tech in the loss column during conference play. Winning out and getting some help could help them get into the Big 12 title game.
TCU is looking to close out the regular season on a positive note. They lost their last two games and will be searching for a bounce-back to regain momentum. What complicates things for TCU is their injury report. They’ll be without safety Bud Clark, running back Kevorian Barnes, cornerback Avery Helm, and their kicker Kyle Lemmermann. That could leave holes in both their defense and special teams.
Quarterback Play
Houston’s offense is being directed by Conner Weigman. He has thrown for 2,113 yards with 18 touchdowns against 7 interceptions this season. He completes around 64.9% of his passes. Despite not being among the very top‑tier of passers in college football, he’s been efficient and helped Houston maintain a balanced attack.
TCU’s Josh Hoover has thrown for 2,873 yards, 23 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He has a completion rate of 64%. Their leading receiver, Eric McAllister, is just 59 receiving yards away from reaching 1,000 receiving yards for the season.

Final Thoughts
This game is a toss-up as far as I’m concerned. Both of these offenses are explosive and we should see a decent amount of scoring in both sides. I lean slightly toward TCU to get the win here, as their passing game is more reliable than that of the Cougars. I’ll take the underdog to snap its two-game losing streak in this contest.
