Two programs heading in different directions conclude Week One when the Louisville Cardinals play the Ole Miss Rebels on Monday, September 6, 2021. The Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game should have plenty of scoring as both teams have explosive offenses and weak defenses. This game will air live on ESPN at 8:00 p.m. EST.
The Louisville Cardinals entered Week Two, last season, ranked #18 in the nation and it was all down hill from there. Louisville lost six of their next seven games to finish the season 4-7 overall and 3-7 in ACC play. It was the second time in three seasons the Louisville has missed out on a bowl game. It will be an interesting third season in charge for head coach Scott Satterfield.
It was pretty good season in Oxford for first year head coach Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels. There were low expectations heading into the season, but Ole Miss finished with a 5-5 overall record and 4-5 in the SEC. Ole Miss faced off against the #11 Indiana Hoosiers in the Outback Bowl and came away with a 26-20 win.

Louisville should have an explosive offense if OB Malik Cunningham can cut down on his 12 interceptions from last season. The offensive weapons are also good for the Cardinals as RB Jalen Mitchell, WR Shai Werts, and TE Marshon Ford are all formidable assets. Defensively, Louisville will lean heavily on their impressive linebacker quartet of CJ Avery, Monty Montgomery, Yasir Abdullah, and Jack Fagot. This is not a good defense.
One of the most talented QBs in the nation resides in Oxford as Matt Corral is coming off a sophomore season that saw him throw for 3,337 yards and 29 touchdowns. Corral has reliable weapons on the outside as senior Wide Receivers Dontario Drummond and Braylon Sanders will haul in the majority of the QBs passes. Defensively, Ole Miss is a mess and will be relying on the Secondary duo of AJ Finley and Keidron Smith. Like Louisville, this is a bad defense.
Series History: This will be the first meeting between these two schools.
CFB Predictions: over 75.5 points is a lock and Ole Miss -10.5 to get the two touchdowns win Monday night.
