This Week Seven College Football schedule is loaded and the primetime games are the best we have had all season long. Headlining the night is #7 Florida traveling to Baton Rouge to take on #5 LSU, but also on tap is USC at #9 Notre Dame, #10 Penn State at #17 Iowa, Louisville at undefeated #19 Wake Forest and Nebraska at undefeated Minnesota.
Saturday night is a slate you are not going to want to miss, so below are my picks for #7 Florida at #5 LSU and #10 Penn State at #17 Iowa. All lines are from the FanDuel Sportsbook.
#7 Florida at #5 LSU (-13.5): O/U 56 points scored (-110/-110)
#7 Florida extended their undefeated start to the 2019 season with a 24-13 win over then #7 Auburn at the Swamp last weekend. It was sloppy, but a win is a win and the Gators will now look to knock off their second straight Top 10 opponent. Florida has four wins over Power Five opponents and are already 3-0 in the SEC heading into Saturday night. The Gators are 32nd in the nation in passing yards per game (284.5), 89th in rushing yards (139.8) and are giving up just 9.5 points per game.
#5 LSU also extended their unbeaten start to 2019 with a 42-6 home win over Utah State last week. The Tigers have now put up at least 42 points in all five games this season and have dropped 50+ in three of the five. LSU has played just two Power Five opponents so far and they came away with two victories at then #9 Texas and at the worst Power Five team in the county, Vanderbilt.
Florida is 3-2-1 ATS and the under has hit in four of the five games a total has been available. The Gators are 3-0 ATS in their last three games and the under has hit in all three of those games. LSU is 4-1 ATS in 2019 and the over has hit in four of the five games with a total listed.
Series History: Florida leads the all-time series 33-29-3 after winning last season 27-19.
#10 Penn State (-3.5) at #17 Iowa: O/U 42.5 points scored (-110/-110)
#10 Penn State extended their unbeaten start to 2019 with a 35-7 win over Purdue last week. Besides for a blip against Pitt, when PSU won 17-10, the Nittany Lions offense has been prolific all season long. In their five wins this year Penn State has put up 79, 45, 17, 59, and 35 points while giving up 7, 13,10,0 and 7. It’s been a heck of a start for PSU, but Iowa will be the first ranked team they play in 2019. Penn State is 19th in the nation in passing yards per game (305.6), 43rd in rushing yards (194.0) and are 5th in scoring offense (47.0). PSU is outscoring opponents by 40 points per game as they have given up just 7.4 points per game through their first five games of 2019.
#17 Iowa’s unbeaten start to 2019 came to an end last week at the hands of the then #19 Michigan Wolverines. The Iowa offense never got going in the 10-3 defeat, but the defense looked sharp which is going to be needed against this prolific Penn State offense. Iowa has given up three points or less in three of their five games this season and have yet to give up more than 17 in a game. The Hawkeyes are T-57th in the nation in passing yards per game (250.0), 53rd in rushing yards (174.2) and are 81st in scoring offense (27.4). Iowa has given up just 8.8 points per game through five games this season.
Penn State is 2-2-1 ATS this season and the under has hit in three straight games. Iowa is 3-2 ATS and the over under has hit in three of their five games in 2019.
Series History: Penn State leads the all-time series 16-12 and are currently on a five game winning streak after winning 30-24 last season.
