Ball State at Western Michigan

Mid-week MACtion is back as there are three games taking place in the conference between Tuesday and Wednesday. The big game on Tuesday is a battle for first place in the Mid-American – East as the 4-4 Ball State Cardinals travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan to take on the 5-4 Western Michigan Broncos.

Ball State is currently in first place of the Mid-American – West with a 3-1 conference record. The Cardinals still have some work to do as three other teams, including Western Michigan, are right on their tails. BSU still needs at least two more wins to become bowl eligible.

Below is my pick for the Ball State Cardinals at Western Michigan Broncos. All lines are from the FanDuel Sportsbook.

Ball State Cardinals at Western Michigan Broncos (-6.5): O/U 63.5 points (-110/-110)

Last time out, Ball State’s three game winning streak came to a screeching halt as the Cardinals fell to Ohio 34-21 in a battle of two first place MAC teams. Even with the loss Ball State still holds the top spot in the West thanks to wins over Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan and Toledo. All four of Ball State’s losses this season have come by 10 or more points. Ball State is 5-3 ATS and the under has hit in five of their eight games in 2019.

Western Michigan continued their trend of flipping wins and losses this season as the Broncos hosted Bowling Green and trounced the Falcons 49-10. WMU have now alternated wins and losses each week this season have not won, or lost, back-to-back games so far in 2019. The Broncos are going to have to have to start stacking wins if they have any hope of climbing to the top of the MAC-West division. Western Michigan is 4-4-1 ATS and the under has hit in six of their nine games this season.

Series History: Western Michigan now leads the all-time series 25-20 after Ball State came away with a tight 42-41 win last season.

Game Prediction: I think the Broncos win by a field goal, so I am backing Ball State +6.5 in this one.
