This game will be played at Gainbridge Fieldhouse at 7:45 PM ET on Saturday, March 19, 2022.
Why Bet On St. Peter’s:
✅ Murray State is likely going to win this game, but St. Peter’s has the defensive and rebounding capabilities to keep this contest close throughout. The Peacocks are rock solid defensively, and made things tougher than anticipated on Kentucky in the first round. They will make Murray State work for everything they get as well, in what should be a single-digit contest.
✅ While Murray State did survive and advance in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, they struggled from three-point range against San Francisco. The Racers failed to shoot 30% in the first round, and their lack of accuracy from downtown could cost them against a St. Peter’s team that is likely to force them into some uncomfortable looks from long distance.

✅ Things are poised to get easier for St. Peter’s in the second round, as they no longer have to deal with Oscar Tshiebwe. The Kentucky big man scored 30 points against the Peacocks, but Murray State does not have an interior presence on the level of Tshiebwe for the MAAC champions to worry about. That will make defending much, much easier for St. Peter’s.
St. Peter’s Peacocks
The St. Peter’s Peacocks shocked the world in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, knocking off the second seeded Kentucky Wildcats in overtime. St. Peter’s looked like it belonged on the big stage with Kentucky, matching them every step of the way. Now, the Peacocks will look to join teams like Oral Roberts and Florida Gulf Coast as 15 seeds to move into the Sweet 16.
For St. Peter’s to do that, they will need to have another solid defensive performance on the perimeter. They held Kentucky to under 30% shooting from three-point range, and will need to limit Murray State to a similar number if they are going to win this matchup.
Murray State Racers
Murray State faced a stern challenge from the San Francisco Dons in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, but they got the job done in an exciting overtime game. Neither team was able to get many stops in the overtime period, but Murray State did just enough defensively to move onto this matchup with the tournament’s Cinderella story. Now, the Racers will look to take advantage of a golden opportunity to move into the Sweet 16.
For Murray State, defense is going to be their top priority heading into this game. They played very well offensively on Thursday despite their struggles from the perimeter. But they gave San Francisco every chance to win the game thanks to a less than stellar night on the defensive end, which they will need to remedy against their 15th seeded adversary on Saturday night.
