Why Bet On UAB:
✅ UAB has beaten Louisiana Tech twice this season, scoring into the 80s in both of those victories. The Blazers have played the Bulldogs to an average score of 85-75 this season, and they should be able to take care of business one more time against Louisiana Tech to claim the Conference USA automatic bid.
✅ The defense of Louisiana Tech was on full display in the semifinals of the Conference USA tournament, as they held top seeded North Texas to just 36 points in a 40-minute game. But the woes from the Louisiana Tech offense were concerning in that game, as the Bulldogs have failed to break 60 points in either of their last two games.

✅ The UAB Blazers showed incredible heart to beat Middle Tennessee in the semifinals, winning that game in triple overtime. UAB trailed by six points with 90 seconds left in the second overtime and fought back to tie the game and win it in the next overtime period. That kind of heart is difficult to overcome, even for a team with the ability of Louisiana Tech.
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs
The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs beat the top seed in the Conference USA tournament in the semifinals, knocking off a North Texas team that had just two losses in league play prior to that contest. The Bulldogs put on a defensive clinic in the semifinal round, holding North Texas under 40 points to advance to Saturday’s championship game. Against a team they have struggled to stop defensively, it will be interesting to see which version of the Louisiana Tech defense shows up on Saturday.
Another priority for Louisiana Tech will be improving their shooting relative to Friday’s win over North Texas. The Bulldogs failed to shoot 30% from the field, even if their defense limited the Mean Green in a similar fashion to win the game. It will be imperative for Louisiana Tech to do more offensively against a UAB team that has the potential to pour it on when they are in possession of the ball.
UAB Blazers
It was anything but easy, but the UAB Blazers found a way to get through Middle Tennessee in the semifinals of the Conference USA tournament. The Blazers beat the Blue Raiders 102-98 in three overtimes, in a game that was tight throughout where both teams had their chances to win the game. UAB needed a comeback in the second overtime period to force a third overtime, where they pulled away with a big run to give themselves the advantage once and for all.
Jordan Walker scored 40 points to lead UAB to their victory in the semifinal, and will be key to the Blazers’ success again in the championship game. He made 13 of 13 free throw attempts in the game, having a huge game despite shooting a less than stellar 5/16 from three-point range. A more efficient performance from Walker in this game could give the Blazers a clear path to the conference title.
