Iowa State vs Texas Tech Betting Pick
This game will be played at T-Mobile Center at 9:30 PM ET on Thursday, March 10, 2020.
Why Bet On Texas Tech:
✅ Texas Tech may be the best defensive team in college basketball this season. They rank number one in defensive efficiency per Kenpom and allow just 60.7 points per game in one of the best conferences in college basketball. Their defense should be able to hold Iowa State in check from start to finish in this contest.
✅ Iowa State has struggled mightily on offense against Texas Tech in their two meetings this season. The Cyclones scored an average of 55.5 points per game against the Red Raiders in their two encounters, which the teams split during the regular season. A similar lack of offensive production in this game will bring the Cyclones’ season to an end here.

✅ Texas Tech does a great job of crashing the glass as a team, with five players averaging at least four rebounds per game. No Red Raider averages more than five rebounds per game, as they truly share the rebounding duties as a collective unit. That will help them avoid giving up second chances here against an inferior rebounding club, preventing a backdoor cover.
Iowa State Cyclones
Iowa State finished the regular season with two straight losses, falling to Oklahoma State and Baylor to close things out. Now, they head into the Big 12 tournament as the six-seed, where they have to overcome the defense of Texas Tech. After their recent offensive issues, Iowa State is going to need to find a way to bring a spark to their offense in a hurry.
The Cyclones scored just 36 points against Oklahoma State in their penultimate game of the regular season. While they will almost certainly score more than that in this game, the lack of consistent offensive production for this team makes them difficult to have faith in during postseason play.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
The Texas Tech Red Raiders lost two of their final three games of the regular season, falling on the road to Oklahoma State and TCU. Those late losses cost the Red Raiders a share of the regular season title in the Big 12, as they finished just two games behind Baylor and Kansas, who finished the year with 14-4 conference records. Now the Red Raiders will look to get back on track and advance to the conference semifinals.
To get to the semifinals, the defense of Texas Tech will be the key. If they can keep the Cyclones around the 60 or fewer points that they have in the first two games between these teams, the Red Raiders should be able to make it to the next round with ease. If they cannot, they will have a real sweat on their hands in Kansas City.
