Why Bet On Wisconsin:
✅ This game is being played in Wisconsin in the late game window, which means that the advantage for Wisconsin will be palpable with the crowd. That is going to play a role here as, unlike with most upset bids, there will not be a huge contingent of neutrals backing the lower seed in an attempt to help push them to victory.
✅ Wisconsin also has a legitimate player of the year candidate in Johnny Davis to help them cover the number here. Davis averages 19.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game for the Badgers, and is going to be too much to stop for a Colgate team that just is not used to playing against this level of competition in the Patriot League.

✅ In non-conference play, Colgate was not up to the challenge against tournament caliber teams such as Vermont and even struggled against poor ACC sides like NC State and Pittsburgh. In what will essentially be a road game against a Big Ten team that is much better than those squads, Colgate will not be able to keep up.
Colgate Raiders
The Colgate Raiders once again ran through the Patriot League in order to get to the NCAA Tournament. They beat Navy in the conference championship game at home, winning by 16 points to get back to the big dance. Just like last year, though, they have to make up a serious gap in talent in order to have a chance at an upset.
Colgate actually had the lead in the first half against Arkansas, but could not sustain their level of play for the full 40 minutes. The physicality and speed of power conference teams is a lot for them to handle, as they will be forced to rely on perimeter shooting that can fade as fatigue sets in late. Against Wisconsin, the three ball will likely decide just how serious an upset bid Colgate can mount.
Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin had a strong season in the Big Ten, going 24-7 and producing one of the top players in their conference in Johnny Davis. Here, the Badgers really benefit from the fact that this game is being played in their home state. They should have a partisan crowd backing them as they look to get to the second round of March Madness.
Even with a home crowd and the best player on the floor, Wisconsin still has to be careful about slipping into scoring droughts that can open the door for Colgate to beat them. Colgate is a very good three-point shooting team, and a scoring drought of just a few minutes could allow the Raiders to hit enough threes to catch up to the Badgers or distance themselves from Wisconsin in a hurry.
