Blue Bombers vs. Elks Betting Preview
On paper, this one is a huge mismatch, as the undefeated Blue Bombers take on the 2-4 Edmonton Elks. Winnipeg’s defense has risen to the occasion the last two weeks, as the Bombers knocked off undefeated British Columbia two weeks and handed Calgary its first loss of the year last week.
The Bombers are still allowing a fair number of passing yards, ranking No. 8 in the league and allowing 292 yards, while Winnipeg is No. 2 against the rush, allowing 73.7 yards. Teams don’t run against Winnipeg often, which might be a mistake. The Bombers are No. 7 in the league in yards per carry allowed.
Taylor Cornelius was above average in his first start of the year against Montreal. His numbers weren’t the most impressive, but he did lead his team to 32 points and the come-from-behind victory against Montreal.

Blue Bombers vs. Elks Pick & Prediction
Winnipeg is clearly the superior team here, but it’s not the greatest of scheduling for the Bombers, who knocked off undefeated teams the past two weeks and now play Edmonton, with a rematch of last week’s game against Calgary on the horizon. It’s the definitive ‘sandwich game’ for Winnipeg and that’s about the only thing Edmonton has in its favor.
The Blue Bombers haven’t run the ball very well all year, but if there’s one thing the Edmonton defense is poor at, it’s stopping the run. Edmonton ranks last in the league in rush defense, allowing 139.5 yards and 6.0 yards per carry. If Winnipeg can get the rushing attack going, this could be a long night for the home fans.
CFL Picks: Winnipeg -7.5
