Alouettes vs Redblacks Betting Preview
Ottawa’s playoff hopes are on life support, but the Redblacks managed to keep the plug from being pulled on Monday, when they rallied from a 15-7 halftime deficit to post a 24-18 victory over Montreal. But now Ottawa returns home where they’ve gone 0-7 compared to 4-4 on the road. The Redblacks allowed 389 yards to Montreal, but they were able to get stops when they need them. Montreal was forced to settle for four field goals, with the longest being 25 yards.
Nick Arbuckle was content to throw short passes for Ottawa the entire game, completing 28 of 32 passes for 229 yards. He didn’t have any touchdowns but more importantly, he didn’t throw an interception, which is an accomplishment when you have a 4-to-14 touchdown to interception ratio for the season. Ottawa’s rushing game was almost non-existent with 64 yards on 21 carries, but the passing game was able to pick up the slack enough for the Redblacks to win.
As bad as Ottawa’s rushing game was, Montreal’s was even worse, gaining 51 yards on 18 carries. Neither team had a 10-yard run in the game and the lack of a running game hurt Montreal a little more than Ottawa. Trevor Harris put up decent numbers for the Alouettes, going 30 of 38 for 338 yards and a touchdown but the inability to get the ball in the end zone was too much to overcome.

The Alouettes didn’t help themselves with nine penalties for 122 yards, although Ottawa was equally as bad, getting flagged 10 times for 119 yards. Eight of Montreal’s nine penalties were committed on the defensive side of the ball, which allowed the Redblacks to keep several drives alive. With the Alouettes having a chance to clinch a playoff spot with a win, you would have expected a little more discipline out of the team.

Alouettes vs Redblacks Pick & Prediction
Ottawa’s home record makes it tough to take the Redblacks here, even though this one could be a close game, as my numbers have it 25-22 for Montreal, which is pretty close to both the side and the total. There were plenty of squandered opportunities last week, with three touchdowns scored and seven field goals, so expecting to see a few more trips into the end zone.
