Edmonton Elks at Montreal Alouettes Betting Preview
The Montreal Alouettes come into this one off a bye and find themselves with a new man in charge, as the team fired coach Khari Jones and defensive coordinator Barron Miles during the off week. General manager Danny Maciocia takes over as head coach.
Montreal is expected to remain with Trevor Harris at quarterback, despite Vernon Adams being 100 percent. The Alouettes have missed running back William Stanback, but they should be able to move the ball regardless against an Edmonton defense that leaves a bit to be desired.

Edmonton will be starting Taylor Cornelius after Tre Ford was injured last week. He’s the team’s third quarterback this season and showed some promise last year at times, but also made the mistakes young players are prone to make. The former Oklahoma State Cowboy threw for 9 TDs last year but was intercepted 13 times.
The Elks have to get better play from their defense, which is allowing 37.8 points per game, which is the worst in the league by far.

Edmonton Elks at Montreal Alouettes Pick & Prediction
Asking Montreal to win by more than a touchdown could be asking a bit much from the home team here, although Trevor Harris has always been good against mediocre defenses and he’ll be facing one here. There is a bit of pressure on Maciocia here, as he’s the one who signed the players to the team, but he does have coaching experience, having coached Edmonton in the past, winning the Grey Cup with them their first season.

Cornelius makes things happen, which isn’t always a good thing, but he should be good for a few big plays in the game. Whether it’s Edmonton or Montreal who turns out to be the benefactor of them remains to be seen.
Until the Elks show some signs of getting their defense turned around, they’re a tough team to back. Montreal isn’t anything special on defense, allowing 26 points per game, so expect a fair number of points in this one.
